On the bestseller list for weeks
It is a manual for developers in the SAP environment. For the non-experts among us: SAP is a software company that develops programmes with which companies can efficiently control and organise their business processes such as accounting, warehouse management, human resources or production. The software acts as a central platform that networks different departments and provides data in real time to enable better decisions to be made.
The two students work as software developers and SAP consultants for CloudDNA GmbH. In addition to developing business applications for their customers, they have been running courses for developers in the SAP environment for many years. This knowledge has resulted in a handbook aimed at developers who want to work with the latest technologies in the SAP environment. "The idea for the book came about when our boss was approached by Rheinwerk Publishing, the publisher of SAP PRESS, from Boston (USA). In a four-person team, we completed the book within a year," says Rene.
The book was published and topped the bestseller list on SAP PRESS for weeks. "We only make a small profit per book sold, but that's not the point. Sharing knowledge is definitely our priority," emphasises Daniel. The book deals with a technology that has been available since 2013 but is not yet used everywhere and offers developers with basic knowledge a practical guide.
The two are particularly proud of the fact that the book has already led to new projects. Daniel's master's thesis, which deals with the performance of apps in this area, is also closely linked to the topic.
However, the two colleagues are not only connected by this success and their shared workplace, but also by their student careers at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. After graduating from the HTL Pinkafeld with a focus on computer science, they both opted for the Bachelor's degree programme in Software Engineering and Networked Systems at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, followed by the Master's degree programme in Cloud Computing Engineering. They are particularly enthusiastic about the Master's programme, the practical teaching and the many experts on the course.
