Focus on process management
In the course of his bachelor's degree, he also wanted to immerse himself in the field of communication and business and studied Communication Management at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences (FH Wien der WKW) while working.
In my current job, in addition to my activities in customer project management, I am increasingly confronted with process management and have realised that I still lack know-how in this area, which I would like to acquire in the course of a Master's degree.
He found what he was looking for on the Business Process Engineering & Management Master's programme at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.
René works as a customer project manager in the field of electromobility at SMATRICS. "In addition to our own charging infrastructure - with more than 450 charging points throughout Austria - we also build and operate charging infrastructure for companies. In project management, I am the interface between the corporate customer and our internal specialist departments in order to bundle all our know-how, implement 360-degree solutions and thus enable companies to get started with electromobility and provide them with the best possible support with our expertise."
In general, René describes himself as a very structured person who thinks in terms of processes.

That's why the topic of process management is not so far-fetched for me and relatively obvious - above all, it fits in very well with project management, which I've been involved with since secondary school and was already certified as a junior project manager back then.
René Eder, student at the FH Burgenland
He appreciates the following about the part-time degree programme: "Firstly, the practical relevance, which is provided both by the lecturers with their expertise in their subject area and by my fellow students with their totally different wealth of experience. It's always very exciting to share experiences with each other and with the lecturers and to get to know other perspectives on a topic. On the other hand, I also really like the fact that it is possible to have the knowledge you have gained in the courses officially confirmed in the form of a certificate with relatively little effort. Of course, you have to prepare for a certification exam in a different way, but you are given the knowledge and the relevant documents in the courses, so the path to the certificate is not a long one."
He describes the highlights of his degree programme as follows "As a highlight, I would like to emphasise the social aspect and the togetherness. I appreciate the pleasant way in which people treat each other as equals. Studying part-time is not always easy, quite the opposite. But the respect and consideration for each other and for the obligations of each individual, which vary greatly - whether they are of a professional or family nature - means that the degree programme sometimes has, how shall I put it, a workshop character for me. We work with each other and also with the lecturers in a collegial, friendly manner on the same topics and pursue the same goal as students - we want to acquire knowledge in the field of process management and, yes, of course, successfully complete the programme in one year. Everyone recognises the personal and professional added value of this, which is why the level of motivation is completely different to that of the Bachelor's degree."
René's final piece of wisdom: "You can't plan your life completely from start to finish, fortunately not. Life is an exciting journey with lots of surprises. But what you can do to plan your life a little, you can set yourself certain milestones that are important to you and that you would like to achieve. The specific way to get there will then become apparent over time - it won't be entirely clear to you at the beginning. But - and my experience has shown me this - there will always be a way to reach this milestone ;-)"
