Technician and beekeeper

When Christoph Meditsch is passionate about something, you can tell.

The term "I am totally stoked about it" comes up twice in the interview with him. Firstly, in relation to his technical study programme and secondly, when he talks about his bees. But first things first...

He actually only decided to attend a technical school -  HTL Pinkafeld because his best friend went there. After a short time, however, he discovered his enthusiasm for building technology. As a good mathematician and technology enthusiast, his path then led him to a Bachelor's degree in Building and Energy Technology at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland . He is also planning to achieve a Master's degree in Building Technology and Facility Management. Alongside his studies, he has a full-time job as a technician.

He is not sure which specialisation he will ultimately choose in the course of his studies. So far, he has been enthusiastic about all the subjects on his curriculum. To prospective students he  recommends a technical career because the industry offers a lot of variety and good job prospects.

However, he has to keep around 600 hours a year free from his studies and job because he has an intense hobby. He has been a beekeeper since 2018. Two bee colonies have turned into 40 in the family. Christoph looks after 25 of them exclusively and produces four different types of honey from their nectar - and they are even certified organic. If you fancy a taste, the honey is available from the Amtmann - Kuhles ab Hof self-service shop, among others.
