I'm very interested in working with children and young people, but what I like about studying at Burgenland UAS is that it's so broadly based and I can get a taste of many other areas.

You need good nerves as a goalkeeper
The goalkeeper at SV Horitschon began his studies in social work at the FH Burgenland in September.
The graduate of the football academy in Mattersburg has known for a long time that he wanted to work with people professionally. "I gained my first experience at a school for people with disabilities while I was still at school and then also helped out as a supervisor at the Eisenstadt holiday games," he explains. Fabian began studying to become a teacher at the University of Vienna, but quickly realised that studying social work suited him better. He immediately felt comfortable and well received at the FH Burgenland.
Not least because his cousin also studied at the UAS and so he experienced first-hand what the degree programme involves.
Football training is on the programme for the student three times a week and Saturdays have been dedicated to sport for years anyway. He has been a keen footballer since he was 9 years old. "As a goalkeeper, you definitely need good nerves and you should always exude a certain calmness, which is no disadvantage when it comes to social work."
