Bachelor-Plus degree programme: New certificates make health managers even more attractive for the job market

The Bachelor's Plus programme in Health Management and Health Promotion offers new certificates that increase graduates' job opportunities.

New, internationally recognised and free of charge - these are the new CAS - Certificates of Advanced Studies - that have been offered in the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences since the current academic year. These sought-after additional competences enhance students' qualifications.

Pinkafeld, February 25 2025: The healthcare sector is large and complex. That's why healthcare facilities are not only looking for nurses and doctors, but also staff who can shape the management sector for the future. For many years, Burgenland University of Applied Sciences has been offering Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes that qualify these staff for the job market. The newly introduced CAS certificates, for example, show that the university always has its finger on the pulse of the times. Students can acquire these certifictes with relatively little additional effort and thus increase their chances of landing their dream job. As this is done as part of the standard degree programme with a few additional ECTS points, there are no fees. The CAS degree is internationally recognised.

Certificate as a USP for students

The additional training that we offer our students in three specialist areas enables them to stand out from other applicants. They demonstrate specialised knowledge with the CAS certificate. In practice-oriented professional fields such as healthcare management, this offers them concrete advantages for their career development, as we are also the only ones to offer such a Bachelor-Plus degree programme.

Erwin Gollner, Programme Director and Head of the Department of Health & Social Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in Pinkafeld

Students can complete a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in one of three specialist areas in addition to the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion:

  • Social Media Content Management: As digital health communication is becoming increasingly important, this CAS enables graduates to create targeted content for social media and thus effectively disseminate health information.
  • Information and Documentation Management (Medical Documentation): Structured documentation and recording of diagnoses in healthcare is essential, so graduates with this CAS will gain valuable skills for handling and managing digital medical data.
  • Nursing home management: Demographic change is increasing the need for qualified managers in nursing homes, which is why this CAS prepares graduates for managerial tasks in the organisation and administration of nursing homes.

The CAS programme comprises 15 ECTS credits and includes a practice-oriented academic paper of 15 to 20 pages. Students are also required to present the results of their studies in a practical manner, e.g. via video, a podcast or a digital publication. 10 of the 15 ECTS points are covered in the course of the regular degree programme. For the additional effort of five ECTS points, the sought-after certificate is awarded.
