For over 30 years, the Pinkafeld Campus has been synonymous with excellence in teaching and research in the fields of building services engineering, energy and the environment. It trains specialists who work at the interface between technology, sustainability and practical application. The alumni TechTalk perfectly reflects this ethos: practical, interdisciplinary and forward-looking.
What began as a vision shared by alumni has now become a regular forum for connecting, a source of inspiration and a networking hub on the Pinkafeld campus. Lukas Bader, the initiator and an alumnus himself, sums it up in a way that echoes the basic principles of all innovation:
“We want to showcase the wealth of innovative talent within our community and shine a spotlight on the people who work every day to make our buildings smart and environmentally friendly. For me, TechTalk is a place where knowledge and enthusiasm come together. Many of our graduates are now working on key projects for the energy transition, and at TechTalk we bring them all together.”

Having started in 2024 as a modest networking event, the second TechTalk in January 2025 already saw around 70 participants discussing AI-powered solutions, sustainable energy supply and digital innovations designed to make buildings more efficient and environmentally friendly. Not because they felt compelled to follow trends, but because it brought together people who, in their day-to-day work, are actively shaping the future.

Gregor Görtler, the organiser and presenter of the programme, also emphasises the value of the event:
“TechTalk provides graduates with an opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new contacts. I’m looking forward to seeing graduates again and having interesting and light-hearted conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.”

The next alumni TechTalk will take place on 15 January 2026. Visitors can look forward to a varied programme featuring top-class talks, inspiring discussions and a relaxed ‘Wine & Talk’ evening that’s perfect for networking. But what really matters isn’t just the programme; it’s the fact that people are coming who know that progress isn’t a solo endeavour.

Among this year’s speakers is Michael Haugeneder, a lecturer in security concepts and sustainable construction. He describes his motivation for taking part in TechTalk as follows:
“On the one hand, I am a graduate and a lecturer myself; on the other hand, transparent networking is the only way to bring about transformation in the construction sector.”
