Lisa was already self-employed with a small PR agency during her studies. On the side, she turned her hobby - crafting - into a second mainstay. "I really enjoyed the DIY (do it yourself) videos and eventually one went viral. In just a few weeks, I suddenly had 100,000 followers," she remembers her beginnings.

Lisa's career shows that a scientific approach and success on social media are not mutually exclusive.

The call to pass on her knowledge to young people herself came about by chance. "A friend was doing a training course in social media. When I looked at her documents, I was horrified. A lot of important things weren't covered at all. That's why I think the Information, Media & Communication degree programme at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences is so great, and I'm now able to teach on it myself. There is so much variety in what the students learn, so many areas are covered. It gives you a great starting toolbox."

Teaching is great fun for Lisa Sophie Thoma and also gives her a reason to keep up to date with new studies and findings. "So much is happening so quickly. In three days there could be the next update. I love the variety and am happy when I can inspire."

The 33-year-old is optimistic about the future. She will soon be opening her own film production studio in Vienna, where she will produce content for her corporate clients.
