Andreas Loschy, a graduate of the Master's degree programme in Sustainable Energy Systems at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, was one of them.

For him, this is the provisional highlight of his career, which led him into technology at an early age. Starting at the HTL Pinkafeld, he consistently pursued his studies in the direction of renewables. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Building Technology and Building Automation (now Building and Energy Technology) and a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Systems. His motivation: to be an active part of the energy transition.

During his studies, he particularly appreciated the practical training and the direct applicability of what he learnt in his day-to-day work.

He also liked the positive atmosphere between lecturers and students, the many opportunities for additional qualifications and the stimuli that motivated him to do even more in-depth research. His aim was to get the most out of every subject.

In terms of content, he was impressed by the breadth of the Master's programme: Water and solar energy, energy distribution and storage, biomass, life cycle assessment/life cycle assessment, environmental economics and energy economics - always with an eye on how grids, operators and suppliers function in a large network. A key highlight was the course on the digitalisation of energy systems, which brought everything together for him in his Master's degree.

Professionally, he works as a building services engineer and project manager for energy design at Woschitz Engineering ZT GmbH, where he deals with holistic energy concepts that can be used to convert public buildings from fossil fuels to sustainable energy systems.
