Burgenland University Award

The Burgenland University Conference (Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, Private University College of Teacher Education Burgenland Foundation, Joseph Haydn Private University, University of Music and Performing Arts Graz - Oberschützen Institute) is organising the Burgenland University Award 2025 : It is intended to stimulate outstanding achievements in the academic, educational and artistic fields in Burgenland (especially collaborations) and make them visible to a broad public.

The Burgenland University Prize 2025 is divided into Bachelor's and Master's theses and dissertations.

This results in the following categories for the Burgenland University Prize:

  1. Category scientific, pedagogical or artistic field, bachelor theses:
    Prize money of € 500,--
  2. Category scientific, educational or artistic field, Master's theses:
    Prize money of € 1,000
  3. Category scientific, pedagogical or artistic field, dissertations:
    Prize money of € 1.500,--

Applications in German or English for the year 2025 must be submitted informally to the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland GmbH, Campus 1, 7000 Eisenstadt, for the attention of Ms Martina Landl or digitally at hochschulpreis(at)hochschule-burgenland.at by the end of May 2025 , stating "Application Burgenland University Prize 2025" in the subject line. A copy of the academic paper or work/project (*.pdf file or sound file) and a summary of the academic paper/work/project (research question or artistic idea/project idea, methodology, results) must also be submitted.

Any queries will be answered at hochschulpreis(at)hochschule-burgenland.at. Applications submitted outside the application period cannot be considered. There is no legal entitlement to the award of the prize. The award ceremony will take place in a festive setting.

Applicants for the Burgenland University Prize must have Austrian or other EU citizenship and fulfil one of the following criteria:

  • Proof of birth in the province of Burgenland
  • Proof of residence in the province of Burgenland (main or secondary residence)
  • Completion of a degree programme at a university in Burgenland
  • Proof of employment at a university in Burgenland

Submissions that have already been awarded a Burgenland University Prize are excluded from being recognised again. However, the resubmission of an application that has already been submitted once for the Burgenland University Prize and was not honoured is permitted.

An independent jury of experts nominated by the members of the Burgenland University Conference decides on the awarding of the prize, and their decisions cannot be contested. The members (or delegates) of the Higher Education Conference itself are excluded from participating in this jury.
