Between rescue service and studies
In addition to her work at the Red Cross, she is studying physiotherapy at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. She became aware of this Bachelor's degree programme during her A-levels when she was comparing different courses in the healthcare sector. Both the website and personal recommendations from friends and acquaintances quickly convinced her that Burgenland University of Applied Sciences was the right choice for her. She was particularly attracted by the practical training with early patient contact, the familiar atmosphere on campus and the proximity to family and friends. This allows her to combine her studies with her work at the Red Cross.
Balancing studies, working hours and private life requires a lot of organisation. The biggest challenge is not overstretching yourself during learning and exam periods. Elea has learnt to consciously plan breaks and set clear priorities. She is greatly helped by the fact that many of her colleagues at the Red Cross are also friends. This means that work and free time often combine in a very natural way. Her composure, team spirit and enjoyment of interpersonal dialogue are particularly helpful. Even in stressful situations, she remains calm, adapts flexibly to new situations and never loses her sense of humour.
Her main area of interest during her studies is neurological physiotherapy. She could well imagine specialising in this field in order to help patients recover lost abilities and promote their independence after strokes or other illnesses.
Elea can recommend both her studies and her involvement with the Red Cross. Specifically, she advises:

Don't be afraid to ask questions. It is equally important to make active use of the practical phases and to remain patient with yourself. The exchange with colleagues and fellow students is valuable. Many things are simply more enjoyable together.
