When Robert Kleinmaier graduated from the HTL, studying was not an issue for him.

It was his professional experience and the trust his superiors placed in him that motivated him to study. Today, he realises what great prospects his studies have opened up for him.

He has spent his professional life to date in the IT sector. "At the age of 46, I started to think about what I wanted to do in the next few years." He attended a bachelor's degree programme in business management and a subsequent master's degree programme in management at the FH Krems. As he wanted to specialise further in the field of process management, he is now studying for a Master's degree in Business Process Engineering and Management at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

What Robert Kleinmaier enjoys most about studying at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences is the exciting mix of fellow students from different industries. The fact that at 51 he is the oldest student in his year doesn't give him any grey hairs. Robert Kleinmaier benefits greatly from studying across generations.

I have never felt uncomfortable. I learn a lot from the younger students and it's never been a problem for me or the teachers if I'm older than them.

He receives support not only from his employer, but above all from his family. His two children are grown up and have always encouraged their father to continue his education.

Robert Kleinmaier works for an IT service provider in the banking sector as a service owner for print management solutions and a consultant. He helps his customers to have the right printer in the right place. Understanding the customer, the business and its needs is at the centre of his work.
