Success: "Seal of Quality" for four new degree programmes
Pinkafeld/Eisenstadt, 30 June 2025 - Burgenland University of Applied Sciences is celebrating another significant milestone: all four new degree programmes developed this year meet all the necessary quality criteria in every respect and can start as planned this coming September. The Bachelor's degree programmes in Biomedical Analytics, Radiology Technology and Business Informatics as well as the Master's degree programme in AI Solution Engineering have been awarded the strict "seal of quality". These degree programmes will further expand the overall range of courses offered by Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.
"When all four degree programmes are fully up and running, a total of 140 students in Burgenland will be able to look forward to exciting academic training and highly promising careers," emphasises Managing Director Georg Pehm.

Nationally and internationally recognised experts have put our study programmes through their paces, given the green light in every area and praised our innovative approaches. As a result, we offer further study programmes at a high level, which also include a job guarantee for graduates.

This special result is above all a success for the teams in the Information Technology and Health & Social Affairs departments. - He congratulates them on this and thanks them for their achievements, says Pehm. There are now a total of 32 degree programmes that can be enrolled on in Eisenstadt or Pinkafeld: "That's more and more diverse than ever before. Burgenland University of Applied Sciences has become a factor."
Modern healthcare professions receive optimal learning conditions
In addition to the dynamic expansion in information technology, a clear focus of the university's development has recently been on the healthcare sector at the Pinkafeld campus.
The bachelor's degree programmes in occupational therapy, healthcare and nursing, healthcare management and health promotion, midwifery, speech therapy and physiotherapy as well as two master's degree programmes in management are now taught there.
Biomedical Analytics and Radiology Technology will be added to the programme in September 2025. Pehm emphasises that training at the "cutting edge" requires the best possible framework conditions: "We ensure this through recognised scientists, professionals with a high level of practical relevance and a modern infrastructure."
Pinkafeld campus: a "flagship university" with a personal atmosphere
In Pinkafeld, where a new, green and ultra-modern campus of 15,000 square metres is currently being built, further investments of several million euros will be made in the coming years for equipment, software, the establishment of laboratories, so-called "skills labs" and other innovative educational infrastructure. "Of course, managing this is an extraordinary endeavour," admits Pehm. However, over the past few years, financial reserves have been built up step by step in a disciplined manner in order to offer the students of tomorrow an education under the best possible conditions. The demands remain ambitious in terms of applying the latest scientific findings in practice and in the professional field.
But we also need state-of-the-art study conditions - this is important for students, the economy and society. And it is also what makes us successful as a university.

"Time for reserves"
Pehm, who is also Vice-President of the Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences (FHK), knows only too well that the financial situation for universities throughout Austria is very tense. "The various crises are clearly also having an impact on academic institutions," says Pehm. The federal government's austerity package also means that universities cannot expect any compensation for inflation either this year or next.
Now is the "time for reserves", says Pehm: "Anyone who has reserves will use them to get through these two years of crisis without compromising the quality of their degree programmes." This is also the case at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences: "We are working hard to ensure that we can offer students quality and service in all areas." - Ultimately, this means that at the end of the academic year we can celebrate highly trained specialists and experts who are committed to taking Burgenland and Austria forward." Today, the university can look back on 15,400 successful graduates: "With the four new degree programmes, this 'winner group' will become even larger."
