Artificial intelligence (AI) has developed into a key technology of digital transformation that is revolutionising almost all areas of the economy. This rapid development is leading to a constantly growing demand for qualified specialists in the field of AI. Against this backdrop, the field of AI solution engineering is becoming increasingly important. It combines modern computer science concepts with practice-orientated methods for the development and implementation of intelligent, secure and sustainable systems. AI solution engineering thus builds a bridge between technological expertise and practical application. In addition to in-depth knowledge of AI technologies, the occupational field also requires an understanding of how these technologies can be efficiently integrated into operational processes. The ability to analyse, design and sustainably anchor AI solutions in the context of specific business processes is an essential part of the training. The focus here is on combining technical innovation with people as users of the technology.

“We train experts who use artificial intelligence in a targeted manner to develop intelligent, secure and sustainable solutions for real fields of application - from industry to the public sector. This is not just about technical solutions, but also about their meaningful integration into work processes and the added value for users and society.”

The Master’s Degree Programme in AI Solution Engineering is open to anyone who has completed a degree programme of at least three years at a recognised post-secondary education institution in Austria or abroad (Bachelor’s, diploma and Master’s degree programmes of universities or applied sciences and universities, PhD degree programmes).

Details of the admission requirements

Application deadline: 31 May - to see whether you can apply after this date, click HERE.
The first part of the study places will already be allocated from 31 March for your better planning.

Applications for the University of Applied Sciences Master’s Degree Programme in AI Solution Engineering received within a set deadline will be considered in the admission procedure for the coming academic year. Applicants are required to apply online.

Admission interview
After applying for a place, eligible applicants are invited to a personal interview. During the admission interview, the applicant’s motivation to study, communication skills, social and intercultural competence as well as any previous professional experience, English and other foreign language skills are assessed.

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available study places, the admission procedure provides for a ranking, where academic qualification (previous studies), additional qualifications (professional qualifications, certificates, etc.) as well as the admission interview are considered.

Deposit
After the binding allocation of a place, University of Applied Sciences Burgenland collects a deposit of € 350 from students to secure their place. This deposit is refunded to active students after the end of the first semester. If an applicant does not fulfil the admission requirements before the start of the programme (e.g. did not pass the Bachelor’s examination, etc.), the deposit is also refunded. In all other cases, the deposit is forfeited.

Highlights of this degree programme

The special feature of this degree programme is its focus on the interface function between technology and the requirements of a business. The degree programme covers the following topics, among others:

  • Basics of AI systems
  • Organisational integration of AI systems in businesses
  • Consideration of legal and ethical aspects
  • Strong practical relevance
  • Practical implementation of a use case, either from a student’s own work environment or chosen by the student

Career opportunities

Graduates work at the interface between technology and business processes. The following three professions are representative of many other occupational fields:

AI consultants advise companies on how they can meaningfully integrate artificial intelligence into business processes. They analyse challenges, identify suitable AI applications and support the implementation of solutions - from process automation to intelligent data analysis. As a bridge between technology and management, they ensure that AI projects are economically viable and technically feasible.

AI Solution Engineers design and realise technical solutions based on artificial intelligence. They programme AI models, integrate machine learning components into existing systems and ensure the technical implementation of smart applications. They work closely with data scientists, software developers and specialist departments to create customised, high-performance AI solutions.

AI project managers lead projects involving the use of artificial intelligence - from the initial idea through to implementation. They plan processes, coordinate teams and ensure that time frames, budgets and technical requirements are met. With a sound understanding of AI technologies and operational processes, they ensure that projects are both technically innovative and economically viable.
