- Matura
- University entrance qualification or vocational maturity examination
- Preparatory course with additional qualification examination
DETAILS ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS BACHELOR HEALTH CARE AND NURSING
The University of Applied Sciences Bachelor's degree programme in Health Care and Nursing accepts 75 applicants per year. (Increase subject to approval by AQ Austria.)

Registration takes place via the online application. The two-stage admission procedure takes place after the application deadline.
Deposit
After the binding allocation of a place, University of Applied Sciences Burgenland collects a deposit of € 350 from students to secure their place. This deposit is refunded to active students after the end of the first semester. If an applicant does not fulfil the admission requirements before the start of the programme (e.g. did not pass the resit of the school-leaving examination, did not pass the additional qualification examination, etc.), the deposit is also refunded. In all other cases, the deposit is forfeited.
Qualified healthcare and nursing professionals can look forward to a varied and secure career path. They work in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, outpatient clinics, and in residential and semi-residential care facilities. There are also numerous opportunities in home care, in care homes for the elderly and nursing homes, as well as in specialised areas such as palliative care teams or the care of children and young people. In addition, roles in health resorts and sanatoriums are available to you.
Specialisation options
After completing your degree, you will have a wide range of opportunities to develop your professional skills and specialise. These include areas such as clinical supervision, wound management and complementary care, as well as highly specialised fields such as anaesthesia, intensive care and dialysis nursing. This allows you to tailor your career path to your individual needs and to deepen your knowledge in areas of personal interest.
Registered Nurse – Imagine being the first point of contact for people in all circumstances: from newborns to the very elderly – you care for them, help them recover and support them with chronic conditions. Qualified healthcare and nursing professionals work not only in hospitals, but also in rehabilitation centres, care homes, with mobile care services or even in the field of health promotion and prevention.
Nursing in specialised fields – In specialist areas such as intensive care, paediatric and adolescent care, or oncology (cancer care), qualified healthcare and nursing professionals are experts. They look after people who require particularly intensive care and support. This often involves working with state-of-the-art medical technology – but always with one goal in mind: to provide people with the best possible care and support.
Evidence-based care and professional development – Careis much more than just practice; it is based on research: Qualified healthcare and nursing professionals are constantly updating their skills, applying the latest scientific findings and thereby improving the quality of care. Some even develop new standards of care or take part in studies to ensure that tomorrow’s care is even better than today’s.
