The third speciality is our international focus on Central and Eastern Europe, an economic region with enormous potential. We emphasise the acquisition of a Central or Eastern European language such as Russian, Polish, Croatian and Czech, or alternatively the improvement of your business English. Guest lectures by international guest professors bring international perspectives to UAS Burgenland and in the fourth semester an excursion to a country of your chosen language, such as Georgia (currently instead of Russia), Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland or Ireland, offers a unique international experience.

Our fourth speciality is our students, a diverse mix of Austrians with an interest in international business relations, those with foreign roots, foreign students and Erasmus participants. This mix guarantees you an exciting study community and valuable international contacts.

Our lecturers, a combination of practitioners and university professors, round off the diversity of the programme. In the Leadership module, for example, you will work with Christof Müller Head of HR at Generali Versicherung AG. You will write business plans with Wirtschaft Burgenland Innovation ManagerMichael Sedlak. The successful participation of our teams in the renowned i2b business plan competition proves the quality of these modules.

The Financial Management specialisation is one of our oldest areas of expertise, which we have been offering successfully since 2004. The majority of our lecturers have excellent ratings and sound teaching expertise in this area. In the specialisation, you will work with the IFRS specialist Philip Kudrna from KPMG and withMartin Wenzl from the Vienna Stock Exchange. Alexander Stieglitz from Mazars is our expert in International Tax Management and a team from E.Y. around Rosemarie König will provide practical knowledge on digital auditing. Topics relating to sustainable and alternative forms of financing are also firmly anchored in the curriculum.

After completing this specialisation, you will have a wide range of career opportunities. You can work in management consultancy, manage projects with foreign partner companies, work with annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS, design the integrated planning process, consider tax aspects in an international context or create the basis for rational investment and financing decisions.

The admission requirement for the Master's degree programme in International Business Relations at a university of applied sciences is a completed Bachelor's degree programme in a relevant subject at a university of applied sciences or the completion of at least an equivalent degree programme at a recognised domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution. This is an educational institution that offers studies of at least six semesters, for which admission requires a general university entrance qualification, and which is recognised as a post-secondary educational institution under the legislation of the country in which it is based.

Relevant degree programmes are those that provide sound basic skills in economics and social sciences for further management training in the following areas:

  • Management - Business Administration - Economics (at least 14 ECTS)
  • Law (at least 6 ECTS)
  • English (at least 8 ECTS)

The decision on the relevance of other educational qualifications that do not fully correspond to the above description is made on a case-by-case basis by the head of degree programme.

If the equivalence is basically given and only individual supplements to the full equivalence are missing, the head of degree programme is entitled to combine the determination of equivalence with the requirement of examinations to be taken during the respective Master's degree programme.

German and English are used as working languages in the Master's degree programme. Applicants whose native language is not German must therefore also provide verifiable proof of their German language skills.

Every year, 65 applicants are admitted to the Master's degree programme in International Economic Relations at the University of Applied Sciences.

Applications received by the deadline for the Master's degree programme in International Business Relations at the University of Applied Sciences will be considered in the admission procedure for the coming academic year. Applications are made via the online application form.

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THIRD-COUNTRY NATIONALS WHO REQUIRE A VISA TO ENTER AUSTRIA

For applicants with certificates from third countries (i.e. all countries except the member states of the EEA/EU and Switzerland) without an EU visa facilitation agreement, the application deadline for the start of studies in September is 15 March of the same year. This should leave enough time to apply for the required residence permit and/or visa and to obtain any missing documents and certificates.

Personal admissions interview
The admissions procedure determines the communication skills and social competence of applicants. In addition, applicants' previous education, work experience, experience abroad and any foreign language skills are taken into account. The applicant's motives for the Master's degree programme in International Economic Relations are also discussed during the interview.

Decision on admission
Applicants are assessed, ranked and notified of their admission. Applicants without a firm acceptance will be placed on a waiting list and will move up in the event that applicants who have already been accepted are not accepted. Applications that are submitted late can only be considered if places are available.

Deposit
After the binding allocation of a place, University of Applied Sciences Burgenland collects a deposit of € 350 from students to secure their place. This deposit is refunded to active students after the end of the first semester. If an applicant does not fulfil the admission requirements before the start of the programme (e.g. did not pass the resit of the school-leaving examination, did not pass the additional qualification examination, etc.), the deposit is also refunded. In all other cases, the deposit is forfeited.
