They come, they start and now they study
Where else but at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences are students attracted by the diverse and innovative degree programmes on offer? Numerous new students have once again come to FH Burgenland with a special goal - to obtain a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
Regardless of the degree programme, whether Bachelor's or Master's, whether at the Eisenstadt or Pinkafeld campus - the first day is usually particularly exciting for our first-year students, who show the courage to take on new challenges. We asked seven new Bachelor's students about their reasons for coming to FH Burgenland and starting a degree programme.
Yasmina and Felix, Vienna, Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work

If, like Yasmina and Felix, you enjoy working with people and want to gain new experiences, then the Social Work degree programme at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences is the right place for you and, like the two of them, you feel at home from day one.
I particularly like the family environment at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and I'm sure that they know how to do it here
Yasmina found out that this degree programme is offered at FH Burgenland at the Best education fair in Vienna. The young student is now looking forward to meeting nice people and, above all, gaining valuable practical and life experience. "I'm most interested in the subjects relating to central problems and fields of action, such as helping offenders," says the 23-year-old.
The first day of study at the Eisenstadt campus was also a very positive experience for first-year student Felix. He found FH Burgenland on the internet when he was researching degree programmes in the field of social work. The 23-year-old is particularly excited about the specialisation in child, youth and family welfare, because:
I see our future in children, as they will make up our society in the future.
Arthur, Lindgraben, Bachelor's degree programme in International Economic Relations

The special course content constantly attracts interested students to the UAS Burgenland. This is also proven by Arthur, who compared numerous course contents from various universities before starting his studies and decided in favour of the Bachelor's degree programme in International Business Relations after extensive research.
I've always been interested in different cultures and have long been a fan of Eastern Europe. Right from the start, I was impressed by the intercultural specialisation options offered on this course and the combination with a Central and Eastern European language
The first day of study was already very enjoyable for him. He is now looking forward to the Marketing and International Communication courses in particular.
Jana, Neunkirchen, Bachelor's degree programme in Information, Media and Communication

The young student Jana decided to study Information, Media and Communication for various reasons. "Communication is taught here on many different levels. This diversity and the international recognition convinced me," explains the 18-year-old.
As the student runs her own blog, she wants to use the degree programme to learn a lot in the field of technical communication and develop her interests and strengths. Jana certainly found the first study day very informative.
The lecturers and programme directors seem professional but also open-minded and are very friendly.
Above all, the student is looking forward to the creative courses such as journalistic writing and working in the media lab.
Esther, Grafenbach, Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion

Exciting career prospects and the acquisition of sector-specific expertise are increasingly arousing the interest of students who are looking for future-oriented degree programmes.
Esther, who has just started the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion, is also enthusiastic about the management course with a focus on health promotion at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. "I've been interested in healthcare since I was at school and I really appreciate the informal atmosphere here," says the 20-year-old student. During a school visit to the UAS Burgenland at her former secondary school, Esther was informed about the healthcare management degree programme, which is unique in Austria. "A friend who is studying here also raved about the programme, so I'm really looking forward to the next three years," says the student expectantly on her first day of study.
Above all, I'm looking forward to the all-round training in health promotion and management. I also think the career prospects are promising thanks to the future-orientated combination of subjects.

Motivated students are always very welcome at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and Dominic, for example, demonstrated his motivation even before starting his degree programme. The fresh Bachelor's student on the Building Technology and Building Automation degree programme had previously completed an apprenticeship as a plumber and successfully passed the entrance qualification exam as part of a free preparatory course at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.
A friend, who is already in his second year of study, told me so enthusiastically about this unique degree programme that I was also interested in it.
An internship in the field of building services also sparked his interest in the subject. As a result, Dominic is now happy to be able to complete this specialised technical training as part of his degree course. What particularly appeals to the student is the balanced combination of theory and practice in the degree programme. "I'm particularly looking forward to the maths course and the laboratory exercises," he says. Dominic is expecting a lot of theoretical input and practical teaching at the same time, and that he will be able to expand his existing knowledge.

If you set your mind to something, it will come true.
At least that was the case for student Lea, who has just started her bachelor's degree in physiotherapy. The 22-year-old had a fixed idea that she wanted to train in physiotherapy and found out about the degree programme via the homepage. Lea had previously completed training as a medical masseuse and massage therapist. "My expectations of the degree programme are that I can gain sufficient knowledge for my professional life and also take a lot away with me personally," says the student. Lea now wants to find her specialism during her studies and have a good time. The first day of study was very exciting for the student:
I met a lot of new people and I'm already looking forward to the time ahead.
